The AMC contests are used to select the United States Mathematics Olympiad Team. About 250,000 students take the AMC 10/12 each year. Students who score 120 or above on AMC 10 and 100 or above on AMC 12 advance to AIME. In 2008, about 5,600 students qualified for AIME. The top 500 hundred students will be selected to take USAMO based on their AMC 10/12 and AIME scores.
In the past three years, SMES has 14 AIME qualifiers and 1 USAMO qualifier.
