Mu Alpha Theta (ΜΑΘ) is the National High School Mathematics Honor Society.  The SMES chapter members meet regularly to explore advanced math topics, solve problems, and participate in competitions including AMC10/12 and California Math League.  We also apply our learning to serve various communities on and outside campus through peer tutoring, teaching, and coaching.  All SMES upper school students who are interested in math and service are welcome to join us.

Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring is available to all SMES Upper School students. 

If you would like to request a math tutor, check out our Tutors Available list.  Contact the tutor directly to schedule a lesson on campus.

If you'd like to become a tutor, email Johnny and clearly indicate your name, grade, math level, and availability.  You will be added to "Tutors Available" list so fellow Tartans can contact you directly to arrange lessons. 

Freshman tutors also receive community service hours for volunteering in Peer Tutoring. 

Weekly Announcements

11/16/10: Calif Math League Round 2 competition will be held during lunch at Mrs. Booth's room (US 714). 

10/18/10: The Mu Alpha Theta annual membership of $10 is due to become a registered member.  The membership fee and participation in activities and contests are mandatory for all members. 

10/18/10: Tutors needed for the SMES Upper School Peer Tutoring service.  Please sign up to help fellow students.
